Global Game Jam
My first major project at GDL was to get involved with Global Game Jam.
I took responsibility for managing the server, supporting those in teams (as well as co-running a matchmaking event to form them).
I was also in charge of organising and hosting/running the Twitch streams for GGJ. I had some guests and we streamed a 'Theme Reveal' as well as a 'Closing Ceremony' where we played the games that the community had made.
I had only streamed occasionally prior to this so I was a little nervous, but I taught myself how to use OBS and have streamed regularly ever since!
Community Games Nights & Lunches
I absolutely love being a host and making new friends, so starting a Community Games Night was a no brainer! Every month we have a couple of hours where we usually play Jackbox Games and just have fun. I also host 'Game Dev Lunches' every month, these are a space for members of the community to casually chat and meet similar people in the industry.
Streaming & Hosting
Since Global Game Jam, I have been in charge of GDL's Twitch streams. I stream indie games twice a month, often those from our community.
My goal is to create a team of streamers from the community from each discipline so we have a regular schedule to cater to all interests.
Server Moderation
The Game Dev London Discord server has just over 3,800 members. I moderate the server, getting rid of any spam bots that might find their way over! I encourage conversation and have helped develop a 'content' calendar to foster an environment where people can share their work and gather support.
Anything & Everything!
I try to take any opportunity that comes my way, if I can expand my skills or experience something new - I'm there.
Recently, I've been getting involved in some of the behind the scenes of events that GDL. I also take the minutes at our monthly all hands meetings.
